Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and efficient service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and providing knowledgeable support across departments.
  • Engage in suggestive selling via telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately, ensuring customer needs are addressed or directed to the correct leader.
  • Receive customer concerns and assist with resolving issues; escalate to the Night Manager or Store Director when necessary.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating nightly store operations in alignment with company standards and profitability goals.
  • Support the building of grocery displays, stocking shelves, rotating merchandise, and removing outdated or damaged product.
  • Ensure shelves are accurately priced, fully stocked, clean, and well organized.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the store, including aisles, work areas, back room, and staging zones.
  • Assist with implementing promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Support the coordination of nightly sales initiatives and departmental priorities.
  • Ensure all company merchandising standards and department requirements are consistently followed.
  • Help ensure proper code‑dating procedures and freshness standards for all products.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide feedback to the Night Manager as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of duties performed by various departments including Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Front End.
  • Assist with training new and existing employees on store policies, safety procedures, record‑keeping, and customer service expectations.
  • Support the Night Manager with assigning tasks to employees to ensure coverage and efficient workflow.
  • Reinforce company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Assist in controlling inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness according to division standards.
  • Stock and rotate merchandise to ensure product availability and freshness.
  • Support reclamation processes and help maintain organized, in‑stock conditions across the back room and grocery areas.
  • Assist with physical inventories conducted every six months.
  • Contribute to shrink reduction by following and reinforcing proper receiving, handling, and rotation procedures.
  • Support receiving activities including: Breaking down loads Verifying orders with invoices Inspecting product quality Reporting discrepancies Stocking and rotating product
  • Follow temperature, storage, labeling, and packaging requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate nightly records, including log sheets, sales and labor documentation, and compliance paperwork.
  • Ensure product temperature levels comply with company, federal, and state standards.
  • Support compliance with labeling laws, safety requirements, and code‑dating policies.
  • Safely use and assist others with equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox systems.
  • Ensure equipment is used properly and safely throughout the night shift.
