About The Position

Valor's Athletic Department is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Middle School Boys Track & Field Coach who is excited to share our mission of academic excellence and empowering scholars to live inspired and purposeful lives. This individual will lead our Middle School Boys Track & Field team.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the rules and fundamentals of the sport.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Previous experience with a TSSAA or state athletic-sanctioned school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce Valor’s athletic policies and regulations outlined in the Athletic Handbook.
  • Must be willing to plan and oversee the day-to-day training and development of student-athletes in the following track & field event areas: Sprinting events, distance events, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus as well as overseeing a strength/weight training program
  • Responsible for entering athletes into meets via MileSplit prior to meet deadlines.
  • Attending and supporting athletes during meets and championships.
  • Attend Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference (HVAC) track & field scheduling & coach meetings.
  • Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Work directly with the Athletic Department to ensure the success and safety of the program
  • Communicate and work directly with the Athletic Trainer on injuries and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to model, live, and reinforce the school’s core values and mission on and off the field of play with colleagues, scholar-athletes, parents, and the larger community.
  • Attend coaches professional development and meetings scheduled by the athletic department.
  • Evaluate athlete’s skill, to develop and facilitate effective practices and game strategies.
  • Supervise practice and competition as scheduled.
  • Assist with getting teams to & from scheduled busses.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of school equipment.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Managing Director of Athletics
