About The Position

The Athletics department is dedicated to building champions through academic achievement, athletic excellence, and national recognition of student-athletes, teams, and programs. The Head Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall Men's Basketball program, determining scholarship values, recruiting student-athletes, and providing instruction to ensure athletes and the team reach their maximum potential. The coach will also monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of basketball coaching/teaching/playing experience.

• Previous Division I college coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, demonstration, and teaching of sport dynamics to student-athletes.
• Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions within compliance periods.
• Coach the team during scheduled events.
• Determine and implement strategy to obtain maximum level of team and individual performance.
• Scout and recruit prospective student-athletes from high schools and community colleges.
• Coordinate all phases of recruiting activities.
• Work with Scholastic Supervisors to determine each student’s academic qualifications and suitability for admission.
• Assist in preparation of budget and administration of the program.
• Determine amount/percentage of Athletic Scholarships and the awarding of said scholarships.
• Oversee the purchase of uniforms and equipment.
• Monitor the scholastic progress of each student-athlete.
• Consult with Athletic Trainers and Team Physicians regarding overall health of student-athletes.
• Participate in media-related activities including interviews and public appearances.
