Pod 70 - Head Machining
About The Position
As a member of the Diesel Division in POD 70 Head Machining you are primarily responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to repairing parts and creating new, either in groups of individually. Machinists must prepare by checking specifications. Associates will calculate how to shape the piece of metal or other material that is being worked on and decide what tools are necessary. Machinists place work pieces on the tool of choice and set the controls to ensure precision cuts. While the machine is working the Associate will watch carefully for any problems and monitor the speed and heat of the machine. Requirements
- Must be detail oriented and able to maintain focus on job tasks
- Must be able to use a computer
- Suitable math skills to complete job functions
- Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs
- Ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx. 8-10 hours)
- Ability to use handheld tools such as Hammer, punches
Responsibilities
- Repairing parts and creating new, either in groups or individually
- Prepare by checking specifications
- Calculate how to shape the piece of metal or other material that is being worked on
- Decide what tools are necessary
- Place work pieces on the tool of choice and set the controls to ensure precision cuts
- Watch carefully for any problems and monitor the speed and heat of the machine while it is working
- Follow the work instructions to perform necessary repair
- Place the cylinder head in various pieces of equipment to perform the necessary machining to produce a finished cylinder head
- Pay special attention to the product and the piece of equipment in order to achieve the desired outcome
