Responsibilities At the Jorgensen Family YMCA, we are committed to building a safe and welcoming aquatic environment that supports the health and well-being of all members. As part of our aquatics team, you’ll ensure safety, provide leadership, and support program excellence. Other responsibilities include:
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- 1-3 years of lifeguard experience required.
- Supervisory experience, preferably in an aquatic setting.
- Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association required (i.e. LGI and YMCA PYAL, etc.)
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
- Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
- An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
- Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse
Responsibilities
- Lead staff by supervising lifeguards, assisting with scheduling, and supporting professional development through in-service training.
- Support a safe aquatic environment by maintaining vigilant surveillance, enforcing pool rules, and responding to emergencies according to YMCA policies.
- Care for members and participants by ensuring positive communication, enforcing policies fairly, and assisting with administrative needs such as reports, schedules, and logs.
- Develop program quality by monitoring chemical/temperature readings, ensuring equipment is in working condition, and supporting growth and innovation in aquatic offerings.
