About The Position

The position involves overseeing the safety and readiness of lifeguard staff at a pool facility. Responsibilities include ensuring the pool is opened safely and on time, monitoring lifeguards for professionalism and readiness, conducting ongoing training, and managing pool setup for scheduled activities. The role requires active participation in staff meetings and effective communication with supervisors regarding safety and operational feedback.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years old
• 1-3 years related experience
• Current Lifeguard certification in either Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis
• Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2
• Must cross-over to Ellis Lifeguard Certification within 30 days
• Ellis or American Red Cross Lifeguard Trainer preferred
• Ability to perform all physical tasks of a Lifeguard and lift an adult male from the pool onto the pool deck
• Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline

Responsibilities

• Arrive on deck, in uniform, ready to open pool safely, promptly and at the scheduled time
• Act as a role model guard when covering breaks and embody expectations of the lifeguard team
• Plan and perform ongoing trainings, VAT drops, and drills to ensure daily rescue readiness of lifeguard staff
• Monitor lifeguards for rescue readiness and professionalism, including scanning patterns and guard rotations
• Check safety equipment for functionality and ensure emergency action plans can be executed
• Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor on appropriate forms
• Attend all staff meetings scheduled by supervisor and provide updates on observations and feedback
• Manage pool set-up based on scheduled activities
• Assist in moving lap lanes, swim testing, placement of depth markers/buoys, and fitting of PFDs
