Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Head JV Lacrosse Coach to start in February 2026. Successful candidates will possess the vision and drive to build a stellar varsity sports program. Each GCDS faculty member and coach is expected to demonstrate ability in fostering a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy on and off of the playing field. They should also demonstrate cultural competency skills to collaborate effectively across differences, set high expectations for learning, achievement, and character development, and exhibit a strong working knowledge of student cognitive development and learning preferences. The coach will identify and support students’ social, emotional, and physical ability needs, provide timely feedback to athletes, and implement a wide array of coaching tools and strategies. Additionally, they will design assessments to measure athletic progress and foster students’ athletic growth through structured opportunities for reflection.

  • Coaching of one or more interscholastic sports teams
  • Working with Athletic Director on practice and game schedules
  • Supervision of locker room
  • Oversight of the development and progress of each child
  • Communication with parents
  • Collaborative work with Athletic Department colleagues, Upper and Middle School faculty and staff, and the broader school community
  • Prior lacrosse coaching experience, specifically in club or school level
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated professional competency
  • Minimum of 3-years successful coaching experience with adolescents in this age group
  • A passion for athletic competition and the ability to motivate and inspire athletes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community
  • Willingness to take on multiple roles within the school
  • Personal traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of children - must be energetic, creative, flexible, patient, and have an inexhaustible sense of humor
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing collaborative relationships with external partners/organizations in the design and implementation of learning experiences
