About The Position

The Head Coach instructs athletes (year-round) in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to respond to common inquiries from parents, patrons or staff.
Ability to prepare clear, concise, grammatically correct letters, memos and other written documents.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer skills helpful.
Ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions.
Ability to be precise in given tasks, organized and detail oriented.
Ability to read and understand policies.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
Ability to exercise good judgment and independent thinking.
Ability to establish and maintain effective filing systems.
Ability to perform research and compile information from a variety of sources.
Valid Wyoming Coaching Certification through PTSB and current CPR Certification.
Must have a valid Driver's License and a clear driving record.
Must agree to and clear a background check.

Responsibilities

Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
Provide instruction that leads to moral values, pride, social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Supervise Assistant Coaches and student participants.
Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings.
Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth.
Delegate specific duties and analyze staff effectiveness.
Maintain discipline, address grievances, and increase morale.
Assist in scheduling, transportation, and fulfilling requirements for tournaments.
Coordinate program with maintenance and school employees.
Provide documentation for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
Provide safeguards for equipment and sites.
Advise the athletic administrator and recommend policy changes.
Provide training rules and regulations to each athlete.
Give attention to student athlete's grades and conduct.
Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
Initiate programs and policies concerning injuries and medical attention.
Complete reports of severe athletic injuries.
Determine discipline and contact parents when a student is removed from the team.
Assist athletes in their college selection.
Use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
Interact with team physicians and athletic trainers.
Ensure athletes are cleared by M.D. to return to practice.
Organize and run in-season and off-season conditioning programs.
Supervise players before, during, and after practices and contests.
Participate in the budget process and recommend equipment guidelines.
Account for all equipment and arrange for issuing, storing, and reconditioning.
Maintain cleanliness of sport equipment.
Monitor equipment room and coaches' offices.
Supervise athletes in authorized areas.
Examine athletic facilities before and after practices and games.
Secure facilities when custodians are not on duty.
Instill respect for equipment and school property.
Organize meetings for parents, coaches, players, and guests.
Promote the sport within and outside the school.
Ensure quality of releases to local media.
Maintain good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
Present information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments, and results.
