Position Overview The Director of Golf oversees all aspects of the golf operation, including the golf shop, driving range, golf course management coordination, tournaments, instruction programs, and member services. This position ensures the highest standards of service, professionalism, and profitability are maintained while promoting the game of golf and enhancing the overall member and guest experience.

Requirements

  • PGA Class “A” Membership (in good standing) required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in golf operations management, preferably at a private or semi-private club.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, merchandising, and staff development.
  • Deep understanding of golf instruction, tournament operations, and customer service excellence.
  • Proficient in golf management software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with club standards.
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the golf calendar.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day golf operations, including staffing, budgeting, merchandising, and scheduling.
  • Supervise and mentor golf professionals, assistants, and golf shop staff.
  • Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure optimal course conditions and playability.
  • Oversee and schedule all member and outside tournaments, leagues, and special events.
  • Develop and implement instructional programs for players of all levels, including private lessons, clinics, and junior golf programs.
  • Manage the golf shop’s retail operations — including inventory control, pricing, and sales performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all club policies, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, guests, and vendors to promote engagement and satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage the annual golf operations budget, including forecasting revenues and controlling expenses.
  • Promote and enforce rules, regulations, and etiquette to maintain a positive golfing environment.
  • Represent the club professionally in local and regional golf associations and events.
