About The Position

The Head Football Coach at Bryan High School is responsible for leading the athletics program in a manner that serves the best interests of the school district and the student athletes. This role requires deep knowledge of football, the ability to foster positive relationships, and effective collaboration with students, staff, parents, and the community. The coach must uphold high standards of professional ethics and conduct while ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Requirements

  • Three years of coaching experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in Education preferred.
  • Current or prospective employment as a teacher in the Omaha Public Schools at the identified site preferred.
  • Ability to meet Nebraska School Activities Association guidelines.
  • High School coaching experience in football, with prior head coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the athletics program in football at all levels of competition offered by the school.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student participants in the program.
  • Set and maintain high expectations for learning and classroom performance as a condition for participation in athletics.
  • Monitor and support students' academic performance to ensure success.
  • Establish high behavioral expectations for student athletes and staff, promoting a positive image of the school and district.
  • Support the values of competitive sports, including hospitality, sportsmanship, and fair play.
  • Develop and communicate a plan for teaching and supporting appropriate student behavior, including consequences for unacceptable behavior.
  • Implement a cohesive athletics program that teaches skills and promotes team play through instruction, practice, and competitive events.
  • Ensure adherence to eligibility criteria for student athletes as determined by the school and district.
  • Assist the Athletic Director and building principal in staff selection, supervision, development, and evaluation.
  • Promote the athletics program through activities with elementary and middle school students to enhance skill development.
  • Assist student athletes in pursuing higher education opportunities and scholarships.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public.
