The Head of Data Governance will be responsible for developing and leading the firm’s enterprise-wide global data governance strategy. This role ensures that data assets are accurate, secure, compliant, and leveraged effectively to support regulatory requirements, enhance advisor productivity, and drive superior client outcomes. This role will serve as the bridge between business, data, technology, legal, and compliance teams, embedding governance practices into the firm’s global operations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise analytics within financial services.
  • In depth knowledge of U.S. and European regulatory frameworks
  • Proven success in implementing governance platforms and integrating with enterprise systems (Power Automate, ServiceNow, BlackLine, Trintech).
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with ability to bridge technical and business domains.
  • Expertise in SQL, metadata management, and diagnostic analysis of data aggregation logic.
  • Experience growing and managing high-performing teams
  • Manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively to deliver key projects
  • Ability to communicate/ translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity and proven ownership mindset
  • Effective communication, both orally and in writing
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to lead projects end-to-end, in a structured way, and with minimal supervision
  • High standards of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and operationalize a comprehensive data governance framework covering data quality, metadata management, lineage, and stewardship.
  • Define and enforce policies aligned with SOX, ICFR, GDPR, SEC, and other global regulatory standards.
  • Partner with business units to assign ownership and accountability for critical data domains.
  • Collaborate with IT and analytics teams to deploy governance tools (e.g., Atlan, Databricks Unity, Informatica).
  • Identify and mitigate data risks, embedding controls into workflows, and reporting
  • Drive adoption of governance practices across global offices, fostering a “data as an asset” culture.
  • Align governance initiatives with corporate strategy, digital transformation, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Develop and enforce governance standards for AI and machine learning models, ensuring transparency, fairness, explainability, and regulatory compliance
  • Work with IT security to implement and oversee role‑based access controls, encryption standards, and identity management protocols to safeguard sensitive client and advisor data across global systems.
  • Establish processes to tag and classify data assets with relevant labels (e.g., PII, financial data, regulatory data) to ensure proper handling, compliance
