About The Position

The Head Danceline Coach at South Harrison Middle School is responsible for leading and managing the danceline program, ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction in dance and related skills. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants, as well as maintaining professional relationships with the school administration, coaching staff, and the community. The coach will work closely with the building Principal and Athletic Director to develop a cohesive coaching staff and to create a supportive atmosphere for student athletes. The role involves not only teaching dance techniques but also managing the logistics of the program, including budgeting, equipment care, and injury management. The coach is expected to attend relevant meetings and participate in professional development activities to enhance their coaching skills and knowledge. In addition to the technical aspects of coaching, the Head Danceline Coach must also focus on the interpersonal dynamics of the team. This includes building rapport with students, faculty, parents, and community members, as well as ensuring that all interactions during practices and games reflect the values of respect and professionalism. The coach will be responsible for organizing practice sessions, supervising team members, and ensuring that all participants adhere to the established policies and procedures of the league and the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC). The position demands a high level of dedication, as the coach will need to devote significant time and energy to the program, especially during the competitive season.
