About The Position

The Head Costume Artisan/Supervisor manages the daily operations of the costume shop and supports the resourcing, construction, fitting, and creation of costumes for departmental productions and NCT. Schedules student workers; facilitates general maintenance and upkeep of costume shop machinery, tools, and costume stock; instructs, mentors, and supervises students in the construction of costumes; communicates and collaborates with Production Management, Executive Producer/Artistic Director, and the other technical shop supervisors; and works in tandem with the resident costume designer to enhance student development. This position plays a key role in supporting our Theatre Season, including, but not limited to, six Nevada Conservatory Theatre productions, Second Stage productions, various theatre and interdepartmental productions, and special events. This position requires recruiting and organizing multiple work crews, managing budgets and schedules, monitoring daily shop activities, and participating in the creative and costume-specific processes for the NCT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • 3 years of professional experience in costume management and production
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date

  • Master’s degree in Costume Design
  • 5 years of experience
