Rockhurst University is seeking applications for a full-time Head Men’s Basketball Coach. DEPARTMENT: Athletics Rockhurst University is an NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. REPORTS TO: Kristy Bayer, Director of Athletics Exempt, Full Time POSITION SUMMARY: The head men’s basketball coach will be responsible for all aspects of planning, developing, and coaching the men’s basketball program within GLVC and NCAA rules and regulations. The head coach will be responsible for the recruitment, retention, and development of student-athletes while also supporting a culture that offers a positive NCAA Division II student-athlete experience.

Requirements

  • Must have excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years coaching

Responsibilities

  • Field a highly competitive program in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the Midwest Region and nationally
  • Plan, organize, direct, and lead the operations for the men’s basketball program; including budgeting, scheduling, game preparation, and all on the court coaching, and off the court development.
  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
  • Plan and implement instructional practices that maximize the talent and potential of student-athletes, while instilling values such as, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal wellness.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate to, and motivate, student-athletes and to work with a variety of university staff, alumni, and the outside community.
  • Adhere to institutional, GLVC, and NCAA compliance requirements.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, growth, and professional development.
  • Promote the mission and values of the Athletic Department and Rockhurst University
