Coaches in various middle or secondary school athletic programs. To help each participating student achieve a high level skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Promote sports in the schools and community. Plan the assigned athletic program within the units established by approved budget. Organize and supervise practices, competitions and events associated with athletic team. Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game. Teach good sportsmanship, self-control and character to all athletes. Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent. Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance. Conduct learning experiences, with small groups of student athletes. Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes. Control access to school facilities opened for team practices. Prepares budget request for consideration of principal and SBDM. Oversees safety conditions, proper maintenance, and care of facility and equipment. Perform other duties assigned by the principal or athletic director.
