About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the Head Competitive Dance and Assistant Competitive Cheer Coach position in Wichita Kansas. The Head Competitive Dance and Assistant Competitive Cheer Coach is responsible for teaching, coaching, supervision and management of the Friends University intercollegiate competitive dance and sideline dance program as well as assisting with competitive cheer program. This includes development, execution, and assessment of plans for budget management, personnel management, recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations of the dance program. Meet recruitment goas as established by the University. Operations include communication regarding facility needs, planning and facilitating practices and game day strategies, supervision and development of coaching staff, and collaboration with Admissions, Financial Aid, DAR, and athletic administration. Educate student athletes on theory of the sport and actual performance expectations. Support student athletes in academic success, spiritual growth and professional planning. Requirements

  • Two to four years of coaching experience required; College coaching and recruitment experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required: Master's preferred.
  • Completion of 3D Coaching Certificate or ability to complete upon hire.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • The ability to motivate and influence others is material to this position.
  • Requires diplomacy, ability to garner trust of others and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to lead in an inclusive and developmental manner.
  • This position requires strong financial management, time management and personnel management skills.
  • The individual must possess acute understanding of sport preparation and facilitation.
