About The Position

East High School is seeking a passionate and committed individual to serve as the Head Coach for East's Cheer program . This position is essential to the continued growth and success of the Cheer program and plays a critical role in promoting athletic excellence, personal development, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Requirements

  • The following certifications and trainings must be completed as part of the coaching hiring process.
  • NFHS certifications must be uploaded in Aktivate (formerly Register My Athlete).
  • If hired, Aktivate training costs may be reimbursed through the school.
  • First Aid/CPR training will be provided by the school and must be completed annually.
  • SLCSD requirements must be completed through District systems.
  • UHSAA requirements must be completed annually prior to the start of each sport season.
  • Required for Aktivate (formerly Register My Athlete): Coaching Endorsement (PE/Coaching Degree or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching ) Current First Aid and CPR Certification NFHS Concussion in Sport NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest NFHS Heat Illness Prevention NFHS Bullying, Hazing, and Inappropriate Behaviors Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training
  • Required for UHSAA: Annual Coaching Clinic (must be completed prior to the start of each sport season)
  • Required for Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) (to be completed after hire and before beginning any coaching responsibilities) : Utah Educator Professional Standards (Read and E-sign) SLCSD Annual Athletic Coach Training & Coaching Agreement SLCSD Vector Trainings, including FERPA/Student Privacy training

Nice To Haves

  • Previous high school cheer experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience working with high school students in an athletic or mentorship capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to develop athletes at various skill levels
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
