Woodlands Market, Marin and San Francisco's premier gourmet grocery store, is seeking Head Cashiers / Customer Service Superstars to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who are fast, friendly, accurate, and reliable. As a Head Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring that the front end of the store runs smoothly. This includes directing traffic, jumping in to cashier, bagging, counting tills, and performing any other tasks necessary to effectively manage the front end operations of the store. You will play a crucial role in training, coaching, and motivating employees within the customer service department, and may also be required to help resolve occasional conflicts. In the absence of the Store or Assistant Store Manager, you will serve as an essential point person for overall store operations. To assist customers effectively, you must possess fantastic product knowledge or be willing to learn quickly about the products and their locations within the store. A positive attitude, including smiling and making shopping and working at Woodlands a fun experience, is a key job function. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing and authorizing customer returns, exchanges, merchandise credits, check authorizations, and discretion discounts. You will ensure the completion of all POS transactions and maintain proper control of all cash and media at the POS registers according to company policies and procedures. Additionally, you will coordinate front end service coverage for cashiers and baggers, perform cashier and bagging duties as necessary, assist in training new cashiers and baggers, and help prepare daily deposits and change. Compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices is essential, as is supporting the company's loss prevention efforts. You will oversee the productivity, breaks, and daily scheduling of all cashiers and baggers, while also motivating, coaching, and mentoring customer service staff. Furthermore, you will manage the store in the absence of the Store or Assistant Store Manager and work with management to address personnel and performance issues. Lastly, you will provide information to customers requesting special orders or out-of-stock items and check the front lot parking as needed.
