About The Position

The Cheerleading Coach is responsible for coaching both a sideline cheer squad and a competition team. Cheerleaders will be coached in techniques and routines for events and competitions. This includes managing tryouts, selecting team members, and providing instruction during practices and performances. The coach will also coordinate travel and logistics for cheerleading competitions, develop competitive routines, and ensure team readiness for local and national events.

As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA ’ s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in - person training session. The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.

Responsibilities

Manage cheerleader tryouts and select student-athletes for sideline cheer and competition cheer that positively represents a Division I program.
Coach and instruct cheerleaders on rules, regulations, equipment usage, and techniques.
Observe cheerleaders during events and practices to determine individual and team improvement needs.
Coordinate with athletics administrators for game day responsibilities and community engagement.
Support Athletics in promoting games.
Coordinate with university administrators for university events and community engagement.
Support University in promoting events.
Serve as liaison and assist in scheduling Ozzie mascot appearances.
Ensure compliance with institutional, conference, NCAA, and NCA rules and regulations.
Report all known NCAA violations in accordance with policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and apparel.
Follow procedures for business office, academics, eligibility, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and marketing.
Meet annual fundraising goals set by athletic administration.
Manage the cheerleading program within the allotted budget.
Other duties as assigned by Athletics Marketing, Administration, or University Marketing & Communications.
Coordinate and lead participation in cheerleading camps and competitions, including collaboration on choreography, travel planning, and performance evaluation.
