For more information on Salary or bonus please contact our Director of Athletics, Tom Galbraith at [email protected] Head Athletic Trainer FLSA Classification Full-time Exempt Reports to Director of Athletics Date September 2025 Job Description Summary/objective Serve as head athletic trainer and manage the complete administration of all operations and staff of the medical care services for all Randolph College intercollegiate student-athletes. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Direct all aspects of athletic training and medical care services for all intercollegiate athletic teams including practice and game coverage, risk management and prevention of injuries, assessment and evaluation of injuries, acute care and rehabilitation of injuries. Evaluate and implement blood-borne pathogen exposure plan and effective emergency plans for all practice and competition venues on campus. Provide medical care for all visiting athletic teams who do not travel with a Certified Athletic Trainer Maintain accurate medical documentation. Monitor and administer secondary insurance procedures and documentation. Maintain appropriate athletic training supply inventory and operating budget. Work closely with area orthopedic physicians in developing well-rounded high quality treatment plans for student-athletes. Schedule recommended orthopedics appointments for student-athletes. Select, train, supervise and evaluate assistant athletic trainers. Select, train, supervise and evaluate athletic training interns. Select, train and supervise student work-study assistant athletic trainers. Abide by the NATA Professional Code of Ethics. Arrange for certification of head coaches in CPR, AED and First Aid. Conduct golf cart driving training as needed for athletics staff personnel. Adhere to NCAA Arrington Concussion settlement guidelines. Additional Duties Provide general counsel and guidance to the Athletics department and institution regarding NCAA policies / procedures and "best practice" initiatives relating to the sports medicine profession. Perform additional department administrative duties as needed including the possible instruction of no more than three (3) athletic training related academic courses per academic year. Promote good sportsmanship among Randolph student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications include a master's degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and completion of CAATE Standards.
  • NATA/BOC certification and eligible for Virginia licensure required.
  • Possess three to five years of athletic training experience, preferably in a collegiate environment including supervision of staff and student assistants.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification is required and willingness to obtain instructor certification for each is preferred.
  • Employee must have a commitment to the values, standards, and expectations of NCAA Division III athletics, ODAC and a residential, liberal arts college.
  • Must have valid Virginia driver's license and insurance coverage (if driving own vehicle) or be insurable.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and conference athletic training policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills including effective verbal and written abilities.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population (students, staff, faculty, and coaches).
  • Ability to positively influence public relations between the Athletics Department, the campus, and the community.
  • Computer and database skills necessary.
