About The Position

The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for an open rank position in the area of Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a clinical practice in Head and Neck Surgery and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at our primary teaching institution, Tampa General Hospital. The individual will have the opportunity to conduct basic science and/or clinical research. Successful candidate must have a M.D. Degree, be fellowship trained in Head and Neck Oncology/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, BC/BE in Otolaryngology, and a Florida medical license is required. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities CLINICAL - The primary responsibility of this position is the treatment and care of patients in both the inpatient and out-patient setting primarily at Tampa General Hospital and the Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare, north campus. Will participate in department, trauma, and ER call schedule. Will see patients with and without residents and/or medical students. TEACHING - Will instruct residents and medical students in both the in-patient and out-patient setting. Will lecture at resident conferences. Will participate in physical diagnosis, head & neck cancer screenings, and a variety of instructional labs. RESEARCH - Minimum research requirements. ADMINISTRATIVE - Includes the assignment of 1 or more activities related to the operation of the department to include Medical Director, Billing Integrity Officer, and Program Director for the residency program, etc. Incumbent will be expected to participate on practice related committees as necessary. OTHER - Will participate in faculty committees, projects, etc. As directed by the chairperson. Where indicated, will provide other services to the University, Hospital(s), and Community at large and as directed. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department

Requirements

  • Fellowship trained in Head and Neck Oncology/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery is required.
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
  • For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required.
  • To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
  • The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
