About The Position

SUMMARY: To provide for the routine operation and minor maintenance of university vehicles in the transportation of materials or passengers. Part-time position - shifts can include a combination of days, evening, weekends, and holidays. This is a contract position through UTMB Healthcare Systems Staffing / HCSS (the in-house staffing agency for UTMB). No benefits are associated with this position, with the exception of the 401k retirement plan offered through HCSS.

Requirements

• One year related experience required.
• Completion of defensive driver course within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess current Texas Class "C" driver's license - with no driving restrictions, and a clean driving record.
• Equipment Operation of vehicles, including trucks or vans.
• Lift and move heavy objects.
• Drive vehicles under adverse weather conditions and have the ability to cope with emergency driving situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and/or retrieves materials as instructed.
• Assists in the loading and unloading of materials from vehicle.
• Maintains daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers/cargo, destination, and fuel and oil consumptions.
• Inspects condition of assigned vehicle on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires and water.
• Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
• Adheres to internal controls established for departments
