About The Position

The Assistant Coach I is a paraprofessional position responsible for assisting coaches in various secondary school athletic programs. This role involves supporting the head coach in daily and long-range athletic activities, planning the athletic program, and conducting learning experiences with small groups of student athletes. The assistant coach will also help guide participants towards a harmonious team spirit and provide supervision during team travel. Additionally, the assistant coach will recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes. The position requires adherence to the professional code of ethics and regular attendance, as well as the successful utilization of technology in job functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
• Successful completion of criminal record check
• Must follow KHSAA coaching requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities
• Assist coaches in planning the athletic program
• Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of the head coaches
• Assist coaches in guiding participants toward a harmonious team spirit
• Provide escort assistance and supervision to athletes during periods of team travel
• Recommend to the head coach the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes
• Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district
• Perform other non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Adhere to the professional code of ethics
• Successfully utilize technology as appropriate in job function
