About The Position

Second Chances Comprehensive Services LLC is a compassionate, community-focused organization dedicated to serving at-risk youth and their families. As a CARF-accredited provider, we are committed to reducing risk, addressing health and safety concerns, and delivering the highest quality of care. We provide mental health services throughout Virginia, including the communities of Hopewell, Virginia Beach, Chester, and Emporia. Our founders recognized the critical need for strong community-based outreach services that empower individuals, support family cohesion, and guide clients toward meaningful and sustainable futures. Second Chances Comprehensive Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated MST Therapists to serve families in the Hampton Roads area. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about working with youth and families and are committed to creating lasting, strength-based behavioral change. MST is an evidence-based treatment model with proven success in addressing serious behavioral concerns, including delinquency and substance use. Therapists work collaboratively with families, schools, and community partners to support youth ages 12–17. This is a team-oriented position offering ongoing training, supervision, and support, with a manageable caseload to ensure quality care and work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to travel within a 30–45 minute radius of the service area

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure or license-eligible status (LPC, LMFT, LCSW preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with family therapy models (structural, strategic, functional)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) experience with youth and adults
  • Couples or family-based behavioral therapy experience
  • Experience providing community-based or in-home services
  • Ability to implement interventions across multiple systems (family, school, peers, community)
  • Strong collaboration skills with community agencies

Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly case planning, supervision, and team consultations
  • Provide intensive, home- and community-based clinical services using the MST model
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of youth, families, and their ecological systems
  • Develop and implement individualized, strength-based treatment plans
  • Engage caregivers and family systems in meaningful behavior change
  • Collaborate with schools, probation officers, child welfare, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate documentation and track treatment progress
  • Support team members and provide coverage as needed to promote work-life balance
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development
