About The Position

The HAZMAT Technician plays a crucial role in GFL's HAZMAT Emergency Response Team, providing technical expertise during emergency situations involving hazardous materials. This full-time position requires immediate response capabilities, ensuring safety and quality service 24/7 throughout the year.

Requirements

• Physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience in hazardous materials emergency response is an asset.

• Ability to fulfill on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Respond at a moment's notice to spills including rail, road, and fixed facilities.
• Perform chemical transloading from one means of containment to another.
• Conduct chemical neutralization and decontamination as required.
• Assist in organizing resources for emergency response situations, including personnel and equipment.
• Ensure all emergency response equipment is operationally ready, including maintenance and servicing.
• Gather and maintain all relevant information and documentation during emergency services.
• Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response, following GFL procedures and completing safety documentation.
• Set up and participate in live training events to ensure personnel competency.
• Willing to participate in specialized scheduled projects as required.
