About The Position

The HazMat Retail Driver will be responsible for operating Class A trucks in a Less Than Truckload (LTL) capacity to pick up customer retail waste from various locations including retail stores, pharmacies, and industrial sites. The driver's duties include sorting customer waste, verifying proper packaging, labeling, and marking, and securing it for transport to a temporary storage or treatment facility. This role emphasizes excellent customer service through follow-up and ongoing communication on-site, as well as maintaining electronic logs, manifests, and work orders. The driver must comply with all government regulations and procedures related to hazardous waste. The position operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling, potentially including 3-4 overnight shifts per week, and drivers can expect most weekends and holidays off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.Republic Services, Inc. is a leader in the environmental services industry, providing recycling, waste, special waste, hazardous waste, and field services. Requirements

  • A valid class A commercial driver’s license with an MVR that meets Company policy standards.
  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Can self-motivate to achieve daily workload targets.
  • CDL Hazmat endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate class A trucks in a Less Than Truckload (LTL) capacity to pick up customer retail waste from retail stores, pharmacies and/or industrial sites.
  • Sort customer waste.
  • Verify that the waste is packaged, labeled and marked properly, and secured for transport to a temporary storage or treatment facility.
  • Provide excellent customer service through follow up and ongoing communication while on site.
  • Maintain an electronic log and documentation of manifests and work orders.
  • Comply with government regulations and procedures.
  • Understand and utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software to track waste collection, packaging and disposal.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service through clear communication & professionalism onsite.
  • Maintains vehicle log.
  • Maintains documentation of manifests and work orders.
  • Performs DOT pre-trip and post trip inspections in accordance with company and DOT regulations.
  • Understand DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous waste collection, packaging and transportation including but not limited to accurate placarding, loading securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
  • Assists in maintaining good housekeeping at facility and on grounds.
  • Functions as technician on lab pack and field service projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
