This role is Contingent Upon Contract Award.

Requirements

  • Shall have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) management, including general supply activities, receiving, inventory management, warehousing, and operation of material handling equipment.
  • Shall have demonstrated lead or supervisory experience, including directing personnel and managing HAZMAT programs or operations.
  • Shall possess comprehensive knowledge of the full range of principles, concepts, distribution methods, and lifecycle management practices related to HAZMAT programs.
  • Shall have expert‑level knowledge of hazardous waste determination, profiling, processing, and disposal requirements.
  • Shall have in‑depth knowledge of HAZMAT shipping requirements, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and declaration of dangerous goods.
  • Shall possess advanced understanding of quality assurance methods, including inspections, statistical sampling, documentation review, and corrective action implementation.
  • Shall have experience utilizing automated records and control systems for inventory tracking, material substitution, storage, issue, and disposal processes.
  • Shall have thorough knowledge of HAZMAT terminology and inventory accounting guidelines governed by DoD, NAVSUP, DLA, EPA, DOT, and applicable directives and policy statements.
  • Shall demonstrate the ability to analyze program effectiveness, assess compliance risk, and implement corrective or preventive measures.
  • Shall possess a valid driver’s license and be capable of operating stand‑up and 4,000–6,000 lb forklifts.
  • Shall possess current OSHA HAZWOPER certification (29 CFR 1910.120) or equivalent required for hazardous material and hazardous waste operations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Lead Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) authority for assigned warehouse operations, providing oversight, technical expertise, and direction for all HAZMAT and HAZWASTE lifecycle activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the full lifecycle of hazardous materials, including receipt, storage, inventory management, shelf‑life evaluation, issue, transportation, and disposal in accordance with DoD, NAVSUP, DLA, EPA, DOT, and NMRLC requirements.
  • Lead and oversee hazardous waste (HAZWASTE) determination, profiling, accumulation, processing, packaging, documentation, and disposal activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental safety.
  • Direct and evaluate HAZMAT shelf‑life management programs, including analysis of asset condition, expiration risk, substitution criteria, and efficiency of managed shelf‑life assets.
  • Oversee and enforce quality assurance practices for hazardous materials, including inspections, statistical sampling, documentation accuracy, and corrective actions to ensure product integrity and safety.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to HAZMAT Specialists and other assigned personnel; assign work, prioritize tasks, ensure training compliance, and review work products for accuracy and regulatory adherence.
  • Ensure proper declaration, packaging, labeling, and documentation of dangerous goods for shipment in compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HAZMAT‑related audits, inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews; coordinate corrective actions and reporting as required.
  • Maintain expert‑level knowledge of HAZMAT terminology, inventory accounting standards, and governing policies, including DoD, NAVSUP, DLA, EPA, and DOT regulations, directives, and guidance.
  • Oversee and validate the use of automated inventory, tracking, and control systems to ensure accurate HAZMAT accountability, reporting, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Safety, Environmental, Supply, and Government personnel to resolve issues related to hazardous materials handling, storage compatibility, emergency response, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop, implement, and recommend improvements to HAZMAT procedures, workflows, and compliance practices to improve efficiency, safety, and readiness.
  • Operate and oversee the safe operation of material handling equipment as required to support HAZMAT operations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management in support of mission and regulatory objectives.
