About This Role Greet customers, verify disposal receipts, and direct customers to the Chemical Collection Centers Perform preliminary chemical analysis on unknown materials Lab Packs and consolidates hazardous materials and wastes into drums for transportation and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements and established contractor guidelines Prepare container inventory sheets and track materials in spreadsheets Load, deliver, and off-load containers of waste at approved disposal facilities Perform scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all collection facilities and surrounding areas Use, maintain, and calibrate environmental monitoring instruments such as gas detectors and organic vapor analyzers Pick up and transport waste to the main collection facility for processing

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent -OR- The ability to obtain a GED within six (6) months from the date of hire
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License at the date of hire
  • Obtain a Florida Class "C" CDL driver's license with Hazmat Endorsement within one (1) year from the date of hire
  • Must pass the following certifications/ license within one (1) year from the date of hire
  • OSHA 40-Hour Hazwoper
  • DOT HM 181/126 Hazmat Awareness
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Landfill Spotter Certification
  • Forklift Certificate
  • May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
  • Must be fit tested for a respirator
  • Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
