The Hazardous Waste Storage Location Inspector is responsible for ensuring hazardous waste storage areas comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position performs both scheduled and unscheduled inspections, identifies and documents noncompliance issues, and supports corrective actions to maintain environmental safety, regulatory readiness, and overall operational integrity.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (assistance available).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
  • General computer proficiency.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana), background check for military installation access, and occupational physicals.
  • Positive attitude, integrity, and strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, or safety inspections.
  • Experience working on military installations.
  • Knowledge of chemical compatibility, SDS interpretation, and spill prevention.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and unscheduled inspections of hazardous waste storage areas to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Verify proper labeling, segregation, containment, accumulation times, and storage conditions.
  • Inspect safety equipment, spill kits, and emergency response materials.
  • Identify, document, and track noncompliance issues and corrective actions.
  • Maintain inspection records and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports.
  • Assist with audit preparation and regulatory inspections.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on proper hazardous waste handling practices.
