About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking an Hazardous Technician Floater ( InSite Technician) to support a variety of customer locations throughout the San Jose area , with additional coverage extending to South San Francisco, the East Bay, and Livermore as needed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, can adapt quickly to different customer sites, and takes pride in working safely and independently. This floater position will be assigned to the San Jose office and will primarily support biotech and healthcare accounts. Much of the coverage will be local to San Jose, though regional travel will be required based on business needs. Why work for Clean Harbors? Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction
  • Comfortable working directly with customers in a professional manner
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows-based applications
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must have reliable personal transportation; no company vehicle is provided
  • Travel may include coverage in San Jose, South San Francisco, East Bay, and Livermore
  • Mileage and travel time are paid
  • Up to 1 hour of travel time each way may be paid depending on assignment location
  • While regional travel is part of the role, a large portion of coverage is expected to remain within the San Jose area

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hazardous waste, environmental services, biotech, or healthcare support experience is a plus
  • OSHA HAZWOPER certification is strongly preferred and candidates with that certification and related experience may be considered toward the top of the pay range

Responsibilities

  • Perform hazardous waste pickups throughout customer facilities
  • Handle chemical bulking and consolidation activities
  • Package waste in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and compliance
  • Support spill response activities as needed
  • Assist with loading and unloading waste vehicles safely
  • Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling when required
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and compliant manner
  • Attend all required safety and compliance meetings
  • Operate a forklift safely when needed
