Ceres Environmental Operations is seeking a Hazardous Materials Specialist to support demolition and debris operations involving regulated hazardous materials. This role is responsible for ensuring hazardous materials are identified, handled, and managed in compliance with EPA regulations and State of Missouri requirements. The Hazardous Materials Specialist will work closely with environmental compliance staff, field supervisors, and contractors to ensure safe execution of demolition activities and proper handling of asbestos and other regulated materials. Success in this role is measured by regulatory compliance, safe field execution, and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience handling hazardous materials during demolition operations.
  • Certification in hazardous waste handling in accordance with EPA requirements.
  • State of Missouri certification as an Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Supervisor, and Asbestos Worker (required).
  • Working knowledge of EPA, state, and local regulations governing hazardous materials and asbestos abatement.
  • Ability to work safely in active demolition and disaster response environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

  • Prior work in emergency response, environmental remediation, or debris management operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, handle, and manage hazardous materials during demolition and debris operations.
  • Conduct asbestos inspections and oversee asbestos-related work in compliance with Missouri and EPA regulations.
  • Ensure hazardous waste handling and disposal activities meet all applicable EPA, state, and local requirements.
  • Monitor field operations to verify proper containment, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records, inspection reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, environmental compliance officers, and contractors to address hazardous materials issues.
  • Support training and guidance for field personnel on hazardous materials safety and procedures.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to prevent environmental or safety violations.
