Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Shipper – JLL What this job involves: At JLL, we're seeking a safety-focused Hazardous Materials Shipper to ensure the compliant preparation, documentation, and coordination of hazardous and regulated materials for transport. This critical role maintains strict adherence to DOT and IATA regulations while supporting our clients' operational excellence. You'll be responsible for preventing incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining on-time shipment performance in a dynamic warehouse environment. This position offers the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in hazmat logistics while contributing to facility safety and operational success.

Requirements

  • Current DOT and IATA Dangerous Goods certification (non-negotiable)
  • Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience preparing and shipping hazardous materials
  • Strong working knowledge of hazardous materials classifications and transportation regulations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections
  • Exceptional attention to detail with unwavering commitment to safety and compliance protocols
  • Proficiency with shipping systems and standard office software applications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with temperature-controlled and cold chain shipping processes
  • Background in regulated warehouse or laboratory environments
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and documentation protocols
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently
  • Experience with carrier management and logistics coordination
  • Knowledge of international shipping requirements and customs procedures
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar regulated industries

Responsibilities

  • Classify, package, mark, label, and document hazardous materials in strict accordance with DOT and IATA regulations for domestic and international shipments
  • Prepare and review critical shipping documentation including dangerous goods declarations, air waybills, bills of lading, and shipping papers
  • Coordinate safe staging, handling, and transfer of hazmat shipments to carriers while verifying driver credentials and monitoring vehicle activities on-site
  • Support temperature-controlled hazmat shipments by managing validated packaging, monitoring devices, and temperature documentation while escalating any excursions
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness through meticulous documentation and compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory audit requirements
  • Collaborate with Quality, EHS, carriers, and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment issues and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Follow strict safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols while participating in drills, inspections, and compliance reviews
