About The Position
The Hazardous Materials Coordinator, Journeyman is responsible for the overall coordination, management, and execution of the HAZMAT program in accordance with the principles, standards, and techniques of HAZMAT management. This role is critical in ensuring that the HAZMAT program complies with all applicable federal, Department of Defense (DoD), state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental protection. The coordinator will oversee the safe handling, storage, distribution, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a manner that protects both personnel and the environment. In this position, the coordinator will be tasked with developing and implementing policies and procedures related to hazardous materials management. This includes conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, as well as providing training and guidance to staff on HAZMAT handling and emergency response procedures. The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of hazardous materials and waste, and for reporting any incidents or violations to the appropriate authorities. The role requires a proactive approach to risk management, with the coordinator expected to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including environmental health and safety teams, is essential to ensure a comprehensive approach to hazardous materials management. The coordinator will also play a key role in emergency response planning and execution, ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond effectively to any hazardous materials incidents.
