Railcar Services VLS Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division provides specialty cleaning services for difficult-to-clean products, including chemicals, hardened materials, and pressurized gases, and comprehensive repair services for certified full-service repairs, tank car qualifications, and maintenance. Marine Services VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products. The Hazardous Containerized waste Technician is responsible for managing the cycle of drum loads, from receipt to shipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • minimum 2 years of experience in a plant environment
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Must be capable of learning DOT and RCRA rules.
  • Forklift certified or ability to become certified.
  • Basic Lab Equipment.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Must be fit and capable of working in an open environment.

  • Technical degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive Drum Loads Including: -Reconciling the manifest and shipping documents. -Unloading the truck. -Ensuring the containers are properly marked and labeled. -QC, Sample, and place drums into inventory.
  • Lab Analysis -Perform basic lab analysis for each sample received. (Ph, Spec Gravity, Centrifuge, Sulfides, Cyanides, Ammonia, Flash Point, Compatibility, Dry Weight, % Water and Filtration). - Cross train in lab
  • Drum Processing -Select drums from inventory and stage for processing. -May assist by with the drum pumping and processing. -Process drum residuals. Rinse and cut up drums, shred debris and process residuals to the pit.
  • Drum Shipments -Select drums from Inventory. -Mark and label containers for Shipment. -Stage drums for shipment and load the trucks. -Make sure shipping documents, labels and placards are all accurate.
  • Drum Pad Maintenance -Ensure the Container Storage area stays in compliance. For Example, making sure proper isle space is maintained, making sure container labeling and markings are correct, remediate container spills immediately. Maintain basic cleanliness for the drum storage and process area. -Maintain proper documentation for each activity above.
  • Other Duties -Unloading supply deliveries. -Cleaning, Pressure washing, pumping rainwater etc. -Assist Operations or EC Crew as directed by supervisor. - Other duties as assigned
