About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring packaging and sealing equipment to ensure efficient production and consistent product quality. This role includes setting up machines, loading and replenishing materials, making basic adjustments and minor repairs, and performing routine quality checks to meet established standards. The Machine Operator also ensures accurate labeling, identifies and reports equipment issues, and maintains a clean, organized work area to support safe and continuous operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6+ months of previous machine operator experience, Hayssen Machines preferred.

  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, and reach for extended periods (8–10 hours), use hands to operate keyboards and controls, and regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging and sealing machinery, monitoring performance to detect malfunctions and ensure continuous operation.
  • Stop equipment and report any mechanical issues or irregularities to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Perform minor adjustments and basic repairs, including setting guides, adjusting temperature/pressure/time cycles, changing dies, opening valves, and clearing jams or defective materials.
  • Conduct routine quality checks, including CQP and CCP testing, and accurately record results.
  • Inspect finished products and packaging to ensure compliance with specifications, including proper sealing, labeling, and lot/product identification.
  • Verify that all labeling is accurate, complete, and correctly printed.
  • Load and replenish packaging materials (e.g., plastic rolls, wrapping, cartons) and ensure proper setup of feeding mechanisms such as conveyors, hoppers, and spindles.
  • Feed raw materials and components into machines and remove, stack, or transfer finished goods for further processing or storage.
  • Set up and position containers or materials for processes such as sealing, labeling, gluing, or stapling, ensuring proper alignment and handling.
  • Operate controls (pedals, buttons, levers) to execute packaging and sealing functions, including heat sealing of plastic materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing defective or excess materials during operation.
  • Other Duties as assigned
