About The Position

The Haul Truck Driver at Texas First Rentals is responsible for the safe transportation of equipment to and from various customer job locations and stores. This role involves local hauling, loading, unloading, and securing equipment, as well as assisting with inventory and shop activities. The driver will also transport engine components and assist during engine overhauls, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and performing vehicle inspections.

Requirements

• Three years' driving experience preferred, with verifiable over-the-road experience operating combination commercial vehicles.
• Valid Driver's license with Class A CDL certification and DOT Physical Examination (Medical card).
• Basic knowledge of industrial engine, transportation, and safe driving procedures.
• Knowledge of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines.
• Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems.

Nice To Haves

• High school or equivalent diploma preferred.
• Possess knowledge of and/or previous experience in driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up equipment for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
• Secure equipment by chaining, strapping, and blocking according to established procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid.
• Complete DOT required drivers daily log and trip sheets accurately.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment at job sites and make minor repairs.
• Demonstrate proper and safe equipment usage to customers at the point of delivery.
• Obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pick up, and exchange forms.
• Assist with rolling cables, inventory assistance, and various shop and/or yard activities as needed.
