About The Position

Summary: Safely operate truck and tractor trailer securing loads and moving construction equipment, materials, tools, and supplies. Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to: 1. Safely drive truck to and from destination applying knowledge of DOT and FMCSA driving regulations and area roads. 2. Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle. 3. Check loads to ensure product is being hauled in an appropriate and safe manner to adjust to desired level. 4. Maintain truck and auxiliary equipment in satisfactory condition of cleanliness using approved cleaning materials and supplies. 5. Maintain contact with supervisor to receive and transmit delivery instructions 6. Complete pre and post trip inspections on truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights brakes, gas, fuel, oil, and water. 7. Maintain a detailed computerized log of working hours, when required, in compliance with state and federal regulations. 8. Load and unload construction supplies from truck, both manually and with the use of equipment. Required Qualifications: 1. At least five years of experience driving and operating a tractor trailer for moving equipment and materials. 2. Possess valid Texas Class A commercial driver license (CDL) for at least five years. 3. History of compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).  Required Competencies: 1. Advanced knowledge of related DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA operating regulations. 2. Thorough knowledge and understanding of related safety and compliance procedures. 3. Familiarity with and ability to use electronic logbook. 4. Basic mathematical skills. 5. Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.  6. Ability to comprehend and apply oral and written instructions. 7. Ability to complete work accurately, timely, and safely under minimal supervision. 8. Ability to work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings, weekends, and / or holidays. 9. Ability to drive motor vehicles and mobile equipment to and on job sites throughout Texas. 10. Ability to work outside of primary residence area throughout Texas for extended periods of time. (Hotel and per diem provided.) Working Environment: Work is performed primarily in outdoor environments with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. Constant driving of large equipment and vehicles for long distances with occasional overnight stays. Physical Demands: 1. Frequent operation of equipment with moving parts. 2. Frequent and repeated hand and arm movement to manipulate tools, handles, and levers. 3. Frequent and repeated lifting from ground to various heights up to 50 pounds individually, and team lifting heavier items. 4. Frequent and repeated exerting of force up to 100 pounds. 5. Standing and walking for extended periods of time. 6. Frequent walking on uneven and / or unpaved terrain. 7. Frequent climbing steps, ladders, and in/out/onto vehicles and equipment. 8. Frequent and repeated bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching. 9. Visual acuity to drive motor vehicles and mobile equipment and to read printed and electronic documents. 10. Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common driving and construction environment noises.
