About The Position

The Hatchery Manager is responsible for producing the best quality birds at the lowest cost while meeting Simmons' standards. This is a Salary Exempt position that involves directing and supervising production, achieving production goals, and overseeing hatchery activities across all shifts. The manager ensures compliance with quality requirements, environmental policies, and sanitation procedures, while also managing the facility's hygiene and appearance. Additionally, the Hatchery Manager is responsible for budgeting, resource allocation, and promoting a safe work environment. The role includes managing employees, participating in team development, and adhering to Simmons' operating systems principles.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in a management or leadership role in a related field.
• Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science, Animal Science, or related agricultural field, or 4 years of related work experience.

• Preference for experience in poultry or food processing organizations.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises production to achieve production goals.
• Coordinates hatchery activities including hatching of eggs, sorting, vaccinations, and quality checks.
• Ensures product meets quality requirements and compliance with Animal Welfare audits.
• Plans and implements the yearly hatchery budget, managing supplies and labor efficiently.
• Oversees cross-functional department operations and ensures shipping schedules are met.
• Promotes a safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
• Manages employees' work activities, performance, and hiring processes.
• Participates in team development and communication of policies.
• Maintains familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and communicates improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
