About The Position

Essential Duties: Execute hands-on scheduling, planning, and completion of maintenance work orders to support hatchery operations. Collaborate with team members to meet operational goals while minimizing downtime and maximizing cost efficiency. Identify and resolve equipment issues by repairing or replacing malfunctioning machinery and systems. Troubleshoot operational problems and perform preventative maintenance in accordance with established protocols and schedules. Monitor inventory and order necessary materials and supplies to ensure uninterrupted maintenance and operations. Adhere to all safety regulations and actively participate in safety initiatives, including service on the Safety Committee. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including completed work orders and preventative maintenance records. Participate in the on-call rotation, including availability during nights and weekends. Perform other related duties and support functions as assigned to meet the needs of the hatchery if trained or qualified to do. Job Specifications: Required working knowledge of Hatchery equipment, processes and standard operating procedures. Skills And Abilities : Working knowledge of standard operating procedures including but not limited to Duck well-being guidelines, OSHA regulations, GMP’s, MLF company guidelines and generally accepted trade practices. Minimum of 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in hatchery maintenance or related practical work experience with transferable skills in mechanical, plumbing, or facility operations. Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information from equipment manuals, schematics, and standard operating procedures specific to hatchery operations. Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair critical hatchery systems, including Chick Master and Jamesway incubators and hatchers, HVAC units, and water treatment systems. Strong understanding of hatchery electrical systems, including control panels, sensors, alarms, and automation components, with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions. Proficient in hatchery-related software such as Hatchery Planning and equipment automation interfaces, as well as general computer applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and database tools. Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and interact professionally with team members at all levels. Working Climate: The role involves occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 50 pounds within hatchery environments that may experience varying temperatures, including hot, cold, and humid conditions. Employees are regularly exposed to elevated noise levels, dust, and hatchery-related chemicals and solvents, requiring adherence to all safety protocols.

Requirements
