About The Position

Aviagen is a leading poultry breeding company with opportunities all across globe. We are hiring experienced Hatchery Associate II associates to start with our company operating all day to day activities in the Hatchery. This position would report to the Hatchery Supervisor. Job Description: Perform all processes, from receipt of pedigree eggs to delivery of newly hatched chicks to the farms Receive, float, grade, set, candle, and transfer eggs Grade, vaccinate, band, and prepare day-old chicks for shipment Properly set up vaccination equipment Prepare vaccines for injection of day-old chicks Ensure all aspects of hatchery operations are in compliance with animal welfare SOPs, chick-well-being guidelines, biosecurity guidelines, staff safety programs and take appropriate action if required Ensure compliance with established SOPs by monitoring hatchery processes, hatch performance, chick and egg quality Operate, inspect, clean, and monitor hatchery equipment Perform minor repairs as required Effectively communicate with managers regarding egg production, performance, hatchery conditions, and other issues related to the hatchery operation Collect and send eggs, swabs and air samples for lab testing; handle communication with the lab in regards to collection procedures, test results, etc. Respond to off-hour alarms, work weekends as scheduled and occasional holidays Perform other duties as required Qualifications: Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of hatchery production and support processes Strong verbal and oral communication skills Ability to work effectively with others and interact with all levels of employees Ability to effectively resolve conflicts as needed Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to troubleshoot and analyze technical problems Physical Requirements: Ability to handle moderate physical work Work with chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants Stand for extended periods of time (6 hours) Grip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50lbs Bend and stoop repetitively throughout out shift Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments Routinely work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays Routine handling and interacting with day-old chicks Ongoing presence of hatchery related debris, smells and odors Climate exposure both hot and cold Working in damp and/or wet environment Working in a loud/noisy environment Benefits: Aviagen provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the healthcare and financial well-being of our employees.
