About The Position

Aviagen is looking for candidates to fill roles on our Hatchery Service Team. We offer good pay and excellent benefits. The position involves checking and grading chicks to the quality standard, ensuring all equipment is in good working order, and maintaining sufficient stocks of consumable materials. Responsibilities also include building boxes for chick transport, completing labels for orders, and adhering to cleaning and hygiene standards according to company protocols. Safety is paramount, and employees must follow safe working practices, wear appropriate PPE, and report any accidents or near-misses. High standards of biosecurity must be maintained, and manual handling of eggs is required. The role demands confidence in ensuring chick and egg welfare during various treatments.

Requirements

• Ability to handle moderate to physical work, pushing and pulling trolleys up to 50 lbs.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to complete repetitive work and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Proven reliability in work attendance and willingness to give best effort.
• Ability to work with a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of simple Microsoft programs such as Excel & Word.
• Self-motivated and able to perform duties unsupervised.
• Possess a positive attitude.
• Ability to perform under stress and have good decision-making skills.
• Take initiative and strive for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Check & grade chicks to the quality standard.
• Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
• Maintain sufficient stocks of consumable materials.
• Build boxes for chick transport and complete labels for orders.
• Follow appropriate cleaning and hygiene standards according to company protocols.
• Adhere to safe working practices and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Follow accident and near-miss reporting procedures.
• Maintain high standards of biosecurity.
• Perform manual handling when transferring eggs to other trolleys and parts of the hatchery.
• Ensure standards of chick & egg welfare are met during handling.
