About The Position

The Speech Therapist will provide speech therapy services to residents in accordance with established standards of practice, company procedures, and productivity standards. The role involves evaluating residents, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapy while adhering to documentation and billing procedures. The therapist will also participate in resident education, discharge planning, and quality assurance programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Current licensure as Speech Language Pathologist in practicing state(s).
  • Certification, as required.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech therapy services to residents in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Adhere to company procedures regarding documentation and billing of speech therapy services.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of resident therapy programs.
  • Conduct screening of residents at regular intervals to determine need for intervention/treatment.
  • Evaluate residents to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
  • Develop treatment plans by establishing short and long-term goals.
  • Interpret and communicate evaluation findings and treatment plans to residents and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Establish individual resident therapy schedules in cooperation with other team members.
  • Monitor resident’s response to intervention and adapt treatment as indicated.
  • Develop appropriate recommendations and strategies to enhance resident performance.
  • Participate in resident, family, and staff education regarding speech-language and swallowing procedures.
  • Provide, recommend, and develop augmentative/alternative communication devices as needed.
  • Confer with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Supervise Rehabilitation Aides, students, and volunteers as directed.
  • Assist with and participate in Quality Assurance Program as required.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes.
  • Adhere to high standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
  • Maintain current knowledge of law and regulations regarding rehabilitative services.
  • Ensure a safe environment and utilize tools and equipment safely.
  • Report all hazardous conditions and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and interact professionally with residents, coworkers, and family members.
