About The Position

The Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy services to residents in accordance with established standards of practice, company procedures, and productivity standards. The role involves evaluating residents, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapy programs while adhering to documentation and billing procedures. The therapist will also supervise assistants and aides, participate in discharge planning, and provide education to residents, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Passing score on the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy Examination.
  • Current licensure as Occupational Therapist in practicing state(s).
  • Current certification/registry as required.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to residents in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Adhere to company procedures regarding documentation and billing of occupational therapy services.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of resident therapy programs.
  • Conduct screening of residents at regular intervals to determine need for intervention/treatment.
  • Evaluate residents to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
  • Develop treatment plans by establishing short and long-term goals.
  • Interpret and communicate evaluation findings and treatment plans to residents and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Establish individual resident therapy schedules in cooperation with other team members.
  • Monitor resident’s response to intervention and adapt treatment as indicated.
  • Participate in resident, family, and staff education regarding occupational therapy procedures.
  • Provide, recommend, and fabricate adaptive devices or other equipment as needed.
  • Confer with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the resident.
  • Supervise and direct Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Assist with and participate in Quality Assurance Program as required.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes.
  • Ensure a safe environment and utilize tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Communicate and interact professionally with residents and coworkers.
