Formally known as Williams Sausage Company; Newly named Hickman Rd Plant/Greenfield Dr Plant Plant address: 5132 Old Troy Hickman Road, Union City, TN POSITION SUMMARY: Food Production - Harvest Skilled PR07 - Kill Floor - Full-Time Starting pay: $21.95/HR Kill Floor team members are involved the humane slaughter of live animals and preparation for deboning. Activities include the driving up live animals from the holding pens to the kill floor, electrical stunning of live animals, bleeding, skinning, eviscerating hogs and inspecting hog carcasses.

Requirements

  • ATTN Prior Tyson Workers: Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 365 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
  • REQUIREMENTS: 6 Months work experience with one employer in the last 24 months.

  • Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.

Responsibilities

  • Must be trained in the humane handling of livestock in accordance with the Humane Slaughter Act.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic cutters.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy during production.
  • Recondition meat that has touched an unsanitary surface.
  • Visually inspect hog carcasses and trim off bruised meat and other visual contamination.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Monitor Critical Control Points (CCP) as specified in plant’s Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Plan (HACCP).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Act as key trainer for on-the-job training to new team members.
  • Maintain and promote team member interest in safety.
  • Help supervisors and leads with safety awareness, including informing supervisors of unsafe practices observed.
  • Promoting company culture of respect for all team members at all times and notifying the plant manager when observing conduct that violates this culture or company policies.
  • Manual dexterity required for performing job.
  • Must be willing and able to use knives and knife sharpening equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
