About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related field, or equivalent experience; a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
  • Fundamental negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in determining and applying conversion factors between alternate scales and weights.
  • Understanding of quality specifications for raw materials and their impact on values.
  • Ability to leverage supplier data for performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, labor, and transportation laws related to harvesting operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a self-motivated environment.
  • Familiarity with total system concepts and collaboration across business boundaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and various other applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Ability to navigate active harvesting sites and participate in wildfire suppression activities.

Responsibilities

  • On-site verification of harvest plans and supervision of harvest operations.
  • Negotiate harvesting contracts and ensure contractor safety compliance.
  • Monitor contract performance and address noncompliance issues.
  • Merchandize and optimize product utilization, ensuring quality in thinning operations.
  • Enforce environmental compliance and manage logging road maintenance activities.
  • Maintain timely system updates related to harvesting operations.
