There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The Princeton University Center for Human Values invites applications for the Harold T. Shapiro Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bioethics for a position starting around September 2025. This prestigious fellowship supports outstanding scholars who are studying ethical questions arising from developments in medicine, the biological sciences, or the human population. The fellowship particularly encourages proposals that focus on problems of practical importance while also having broader theoretical interest. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. The Shapiro Fellow will spend their time at Princeton conducting research and may also teach up to one semester course each year, contingent upon sufficient course enrollments and with the approval of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. In addition to their research and teaching responsibilities, the fellow will participate in the Ira W. DeCamp Seminar in Bioethics and engage in a variety of other activities within the University Center for Human Values. Candidates are encouraged to apply if they have or expect to have a Ph.D., M.D., or other equivalent doctoral degree. It is important to note that applicants should not have more than two years of postdoctoral experience by the start of the appointment. While a background in bioethics is not strictly necessary, the proposed research plan must be situated within the field of bioethics. Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant's previous accomplishments and the potential of the proposed research project in bioethics, as well as the capacity to contribute to the University's teaching program.
