About The Position

The Hardwoods Molder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining molder machines used to shape and profile hardwood lumber according to specifications. This role ensures high-quality finished products while maintaining safety, efficiency, and production standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience operating woodworking machinery, preferably molders
Knowledge of hardwood species, grain patterns, and machining characteristics
Ability to read measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to lift, stack, and handle lumber safely

Nice To Haves

2+ years of experience as a molder operator in a hardwood manufacturing environment
Experience with multi-head molders and custom profiles
Familiarity with knife grinding or tooling setup
Forklift certification

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, and operate hardwood molder machines to produce custom and standard profiles
Read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and specifications
Select, install, and align cutting heads, knives, and tooling
Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency
Inspect finished products for defects, dimensions, and surface quality
Perform routine maintenance, blade changes, and minor mechanical adjustments
Troubleshoot machine issues and report major maintenance needs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Meet production schedules while minimizing waste and downtime
