About The Position

Kimminau Wood Floors is the top ranked hardwood flooring company in Kansas City, based in South Kansas City, focused on high quality installation and refinishing of hardwood flooring. We have an open journeyman position available for candidates that embrace accountability, demonstrate integrity and humility, and take pride in the work they do. This position is for someone who is a passionate craftsman and looking to build a career. We're searching for someone who wants to be a long-term member of our team. This position is available to technicians that have completed the NWFA apprenticeship program sponsored by Kimminau Floors or have received the equivalent in training. Technicians will be required to utilize hand tools, power tools, job site testing and preparation methods, design and layout patterns, demonstrate various installation methods, sanding and finishing methods, and complete field repairs. The person fulfilling this position will be held accountable for the results of each floor installed or prepared for installation by Kimminau Floors.

Requirements

  • Complete 3-year apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be well groomed, dressed professionally, punctual, and well organized.
  • Self-motivating and Hard-working
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
  • Reliable & Dependable
  • Clean Driving Record w/ Reliable Transportation
  • Clean Drug Screen and Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • NWFA Certified Installation Professional (preferred).
  • NWFA Certified Sand & Finish Professional (preferred).
  • Communication and Customer Service Skills a plus
  • Coachable/Trainable

Responsibilities

  • Job site Preparation for both installation and refinishing.
  • Hardwood Installation
  • Hardwood Refinishing
  • Maintain standard list of hand tools
  • Maintain equipment - follow maintenance program.
  • Assist with maintaining tools, vans, and workshop space.
  • Track time accurately
  • Continued education - NWFA online & classroom instruction
  • Occasional late nights and weekend work.
