About The Position

As a Hardware Validation Engineer at Pure Storage, you will ensure the legendary reliability and performance of our next-generation high-performance storage systems. You will serve as the final gatekeeper of hardware integrity, bridging the gap between initial design and global manufacturing by driving rigorous board- and system-level validation. Collaborating closely with JDM partners and cross-functional engineering teams, your mission is to harden our x86-based platforms against the most demanding enterprise workloads, ensuring our customers never have to worry about downtime.

Requirements

  • Platform Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of x86 architectures, hardware design principles, and enterprise-grade server/storage interfaces.
  • Automation Mastery: High proficiency in scripting languages (such as Python or Bash) to automate hardware configurations and complex test development within Linux environments.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: A structured, data-driven approach to troubleshooting, with the ability to distill large datasets from stress workloads into clear technical insights.
  • Validation Precision: Extensive experience planning and implementing hardware qualification processes, specifically including Ethernet networking and high-speed signal validation.
  • Collaborative Drive: A self-motivated mindset with the communication skills necessary to lead vendor partnerships and drive technical issues to closure in a fast-paced development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Validation Lifecycle: Design and execute comprehensive validation strategies for x86-based storage platforms, moving products from initial design through manufacturing readiness and into sustaining support.
  • Architect Automated Workflows: Develop and enhance Python-based automation frameworks to streamline test execution and result reporting, increasing the speed and accuracy of hardware qualification.
  • Drive System Hardening: Conduct deep-dive failure and root-cause analysis on complex hardware issues, transforming raw data from stress tests (PTAT, FIO, iPerf) into actionable engineering fixes.
  • Ensure Supply Chain Resilience: Lead sustaining qualification tests for new components to maintain a robust, high-quality production portfolio without compromising system performance.
  • Bridge Cross-Functional Gaps: Partner with Operations and Escalation teams to resolve critical field issues, acting as the technical authority on hardware behavior across various voltage and temperature corners.
