As a Hardware Test Engineering Intern, you’ll support the development and verification of next‑generation patient monitoring systems used in clinical environments. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to evaluate electronic hardware and system‑level performance while learning how medical devices are designed, tested, and verified under FDA and ISO regulatory standards. This role is ideal for students who enjoy hands‑on engineering, problem‑solving, and working on technology that directly impacts patient care. This is a 10-12 week internship based onsite in Snoqualmie, Washington. You will be required to interview in Snoqualmie and work onsite 4 or more days per week. We are seeking local students pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of analog/digital electronics, sensors, and embedded systems.
  • Experience using common lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Ability to interpret schematics, block diagrams, and datasheets.
  • Experience in completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing.
  • Ability to interact and adhere to an established Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Understanding of compliance and pre-compliance testing.
  • Ability to validate hardware against design, product and market requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Required to be on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Execute test protocols for analog and digital circuits and embedded hardware used in patient monitors.
  • Perform functional, environmental, and reliability testing (e.g., thermal, vibration, EMC pre‑screening).
  • Collect, analyze, and document test data using engineering tools and software.
  • Assist in root‑cause analysis for hardware failures and support corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal generators, etc.).
  • Help improve test coverage, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Follow medical‑device quality system and safety standards requirements (ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1).
  • Create and update engineering documentation, including test reports, procedures, and traceability records.
  • Support design verification and validation (DV/V&V) activities for new product introductions.
  • Work with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to understand design intent and test requirements.
